TOP TIER MANGO ALERT!!!
Imam Passand, often confused with Alampur Baneshan in Florida, is a distinct Indian variety that has been reliably identified as the same cultivar introduced under the Alampur Baneshan name. The fruit is medium-sized, oval, and typically remains green even at full maturity, occasionally turning a muted greenish-yellow. The flesh is firm, pale yellow to almost white, fiberless, and exceptionally sweet, with pronounced resinous, spicy, and aromatic notes. The seed is small and monoembryonic.
The trees are slow-growing with a spreading, open canopy, and can be easily maintained at a manageable size. They flower readily and consistently in South Florida’s climate, producing good yields for an Indian-type mango. Fruits sometimes develop skin cracks near maturity, but the flesh remains excellent. Originating from southern India, Imam Passand is also known locally as Himayat or Himayudin. It is an early-to-mid season variety, typically ripening from June through July.
