Ambika is an Indian mango hybrid named after a goddess in Jainism and is the result of a cross between Amrapali and Janardan Pasand.
The fruit are oval, medium in size, and highly ornamental, developing an intense red coloration at maturity. Flesh is yellow, firm, and completely fiberless, with a classic mango flavor profile featuring pronounced stone fruit notes. The seed is large and monoembryonic.
In South Florida, Ambika is classified as a late-season mango, typically ripening from late July through early September. The tree exhibits low to moderate vigor with a spreading, dense canopy. Both flowers and fruit have shown good tolerance to common mango diseases under Florida conditions.
Ambika is well suited for growers seeking a late-season mango with traditional flavor characteristics and attractive fruit, offering an alternative to older late-ripening cultivars.
