Ambrosia is a mango originating from the breeding program of Gary Zill in Boynton Beach, Florida. Initially identified as planting number 1-9, it is a seedling of Keitt and is thought to have been cross-pollinated by an East Indian–type mango, though the pollen parent has not been definitively confirmed.
The fruit are round to slightly oval, medium in size, and ripen to a yellow exterior. Flesh is yellow, very firm, and completely fiberless. The flavor profile is notably rich and complex, falling between Indian/West Indian and classic mango types, making it difficult to categorize into a single flavor group.
The tree exhibits a vigorous, upright growth habit with a relatively open canopy. Ambrosia is classified as a late-season mango in South Florida, with fruit typically ripening into August.
