Azucar is a mango variety commonly cultivated throughout Colombia, where it is popular enough to be routinely sold in local supermarkets. The trees are strong, upright growers with a vigorous vertical habit and are known for producing heavy crops. Fruit are borne in large numbers and are small, yellow, and oval in shape, with a moderate amount of fiber.
True to its name—azúcar meaning “sugar” in Spanish—this mango is valued for its pronounced sweetness and straightforward, classic mango flavor. The flesh is yellow and surrounds a polyembryonic seed, making the variety useful not only for fruit production but also for seed propagation. Azucar is especially appreciated as a reliable, productive mango well suited to warm tropical climates where high yields and consistent flavor are priorities.
