Bailey's Marvel is a Haden seedling from Bokeelia, Florida, named for the Bailey brothers who once cultivated mangos on Pine Island. Pedigree analysis suggests the pollinating parent may have been Bombay, reflected in similarities in fruit shape and foliage.
Trees are vigorous with dense, spreading canopies. They produce well in coastal areas but can face fungal issues in more humid interior locations. Fruit show strong resistance to bacterial black spot.
The fruit are medium to large, typically over a pound, with a round shape and minimal beak. Sun-exposed areas develop an attractive orange-red coloration. Flesh is fiber-free, sweet, and slightly more complex than Haden, with a classic mango flavor. Seeds are monoembryonic.
Bailey's Marvel is an early-to-mid season mango, generally ripening from May through July. Fruit have a relatively short shelf life, which limits commercial potential, but the cultivar is valued for its flavor and coastal adaptability.
