Brooks is a historic Florida mango cultivar, selected shortly after Haden and originating as a seedling of Sandersha, first fruiting in Miami in 1916.

The variety was valued for its strong productivity and late-season fruiting, with harvest extending into August and occasionally September. Fruit flesh is firm with a mild, acceptable flavor, characteristics that supported its early commercial planting.

Brooks served as a parent for several notable Florida cultivars, including Kent, Keitt, Hatcher, and Fascell, which were developed as improvements over it, leading to a decline in its commercial prevalence.

Mature Brooks trees can still be found in parts of South Florida. The cultivar is susceptible to bacterial spot and fruit rot, traits shared by several of its descendants.
