Cac is a mango from Vietnam, sometimes speculated to be synonymous with Cat Chu, though this has been disputed. It should not be confused with Coc, also called “toad” fruit in Vietnam. The cultivar was introduced to Florida over 25 years ago and has become recognized as a promising Indochinese hybrid.

The fruit are ovate to heart-shaped, yellow at maturity, and average around a pound. Flesh is rich, sweet, and balanced with a pronounced acid component, with flavor notes reminiscent of cola syrup. The seed is monoembryonic.

Trees are vigorous with a spreading growth habit. Cac is generally a steady producer and largely disease-free, showing good resistance to anthracnose and very good resistance to bacterial spot, though blooms may be susceptible to powdery mildew.

In Florida, Cac is a mid-season mango, typically ripening from late June through July. Its vigorous growth makes it better suited for growers who can accommodate a large, spreading tree.
