Coconut Cream is a mango from Gary Zill’s breeding program in Boynton Beach, Florida, resulting from a cross between ‘Edward’ and ‘Gary’. It is one of the few patented mango cultivars.
The fruit are medium-sized, oval, and slightly bumpy, yellow with a pinkish blush at maturity. Flesh is soft, light yellow, fiberless, and highly flavorful, with a pronounced coconut taste combined with rich sweetness. The seed is small and polyembryonic. Fruit ripen early to mid-season, generally from June through July, and can overripen quickly once mature.
Trees are fairly vigorous with spreading, unwieldy growth habits. Young trees often take several years to establish consistent production, partially due to high ratios of male flowers and early fruit drop. Coconut Cream is partially graft-incompatible with Turpentine rootstock, which can result in weak unions and susceptibility to breakage in wind.
Due to patent restrictions, propagation of Coconut Cream trees or scions is not commercially available. We do not sell Scions or Trees of Coconut Cream.
