Crabapple trees belong to the Malus genus and are among the most widely used rootstock and pollinator trees in apple cultivation. They are highly valued in orchard settings because most crabapple varieties bloom in sync with standard apple varieties, making them exceptionally effective cross-pollinators that can improve fruit set across an entire orchard. Crabapples are also used as rootstock for grafting standard apple varieties due to their hardiness, adaptability across a wide range of soil types, and strong root systems. The fruit, while small and tart, is high in pectin and widely used for making jellies, preserves, and hard cider. Crabapple trees are cold hardy across a broad range of USDA zones and are known for their long-term reliability in both ornamental and productive orchard settings. Each order includes 3 freshly harvested live cuttings individually wrapped in grafting tape to retain moisture and protect the cambium during shipping. Printed care and propagation instructions are included with every order.
