Edgar is from Gary Zill’s breeding program in Boynton Beach, FL, likely a seedling of Zill-80. The fruit is ovate, medium-sized, with a yellow background and light red/orange blush. The flesh is fiberless, firm, and has a high-quality classic subacid flavor.
Trees are moderately vigorous with a spreading, open canopy and have proven to be reliable producers with strong fungal resistance. Edgar ripens in the later mid-season, primarily in July and occasionally into early August.
