Emerald is an Indian/West Indian‑type mango selected on Pine Island, FL, likely with Bombay in its parentage. The trees are moderately vigorous with a more open canopy than Bombay, making them easier to manage in smaller yards. The fruit are small, oval to round, and light green at maturity, sometimes showing a subtle pink blush.
The flesh is firm, fiberless, and sweet, with a flavor profile very similar to Bombay, placing it squarely in the Indian/West Indian flavor group. Emerald has proven to be a consistent and reliable producer in South Florida, flowering regularly and maturing mid‑season, typically from late June through July.
It’s an excellent choice for those who enjoy Bombay-style flavor but want a tree that is more manageable and dependable in production.
