Fernandin is a mango from Goa, India, historically influenced by Portuguese colonization. It is a small, red-and-yellow fruit with yellow, fiberless, and aromatic flesh. The flavor is rich and falls in the Indian-Alphonso group, reminiscent of Alphonso, Kesar, and Mesk. The seed is small and monoembryonic. Fernandin shows natural resistance to fruit fly in its native range. In south Florida, it appears to be a mid-to-late season variety, producing fruit reliably once established.
