Gaylour is reportedly from Egypt, though it is not widely known there. The fruit are long, oblong, and yellow, with a good size for the shape. The flesh is pale yellow, firm, fiberless, and finely flavored, placing it in the Indian/West Indian flavor group and comparable to varieties like Step, ST Maui, and Taymour.
The seed is monoembryonic. The tree exhibits a vigorous growth habit with spreading branches. Fruit are prone to splitting, especially after heavy rainfall, but the variety has shown strong resistance to anthracnose and mango bacterial black spot. Gaylour is a mid-season cultivar.
