Glenn is a mango seedling selected in Miami, FL by Roscoe Glenn in 1944. Originally reported as a Haden seedling, it is now believed to be a Saigon-type seedling, with Haden possibly serving as the pollinating parent.
The trees are medium-sized with dense canopies, consistent producers, and display excellent anthracnose resistance, performing well even in marginal interior locations. They are also very resistant to mango bacterial black spot and rot, though the flowers can be prone to powdery mildew.
The fruit are small-to-medium, developing red or orange blush at maturity. The flesh is yellow, soft, and fiberless, with a mild, peachy classic flavor that is most pronounced in dry conditions. The seed is monoembryonic.
Glenn ripens early season from May to June and remains popular in Florida nurseries as a resilient, manageable backyard tree with classic, approachable flavor.
