Golden Queen, originally known as Jin Huang, comes from Taiwan and is a cross between ‘Ivory’ and ‘Keitt’. The fruit are enormous and highly ornamental, oblong-sigmoid in shape, and can remain mostly green at maturity with minimal pink blush in interior areas, while coastal fruit develops a brighter yellow-orange. Individual fruits can weigh several pounds.
The flesh is firm, fiberless, and yellow, with a Thai-class flavor that is sweet, floral, and honeyed, but with a bit more depth than varieties like Nam Doc Mai or Keow Savoy. The trees are moderately vigorous with vertical, dense canopies; foliage resembles Keitt, while the flowers show superior anthracnose resistance.
Other names for this variety are Kiew Yai, and Cat Saigon
