Muscadine grapes are native to the Southeastern United States and belong to the species Vitis rotundifolia, making them genetically distinct from the European and American grape varieties more commonly found in commercial viticulture. They are naturally resistant to many of the diseases and pests that affect other grape species, including Pierce's disease, which makes them one of the few viable options for home vineyard growers in the Deep South and Gulf Coast regions. Green muscadine varieties, sometimes referred to as bronze muscadines, produce fruit with a golden to bronze-green skin at full ripeness and are generally considered sweeter and more aromatic than their purple counterparts. Muscadine vines are vigorous growers that thrive in heat and humidity, prefer well-drained sandy or loamy soils, and are productive in USDA zones 7 through 10. Each order includes 3 freshly harvested live cuttings individually wrapped in grafting tape to retain moisture and protect the cambium during shipping. Printed care and propagation instructions are included with every order.
