TOP TIER MANGO ALERT!!!
Ice Cream is a mango from Trinidad, likely descended from Julie, and was introduced to the U.S. by Maurice Kong in the 1990s.
The fruit are very small, ovate to round, and ripen to a soft yellow. The flesh is fiberless with a highly distinctive flavor, rich in perfumy spice notes and sweetness, comparable to White Piri or Imam Passand. The seed is monoembryonic.
Trees grow slowly, with a dwarfish, spreading habit and thin, distinctive leaves. They are highly susceptible to fungal diseases and mango bacterial black spot, and can be inconsistent producers, making them better suited for collectors rather than general backyard planting.
Ice Cream ripens mid-season in Florida, mostly in July.
