Juicy Peach originates from Gary Zill’s breeding program in Boynton Beach, FL (planting #F-29) and is believed to be a Tommy Atkins seedling, possibly pollinated by ‘Gary’.
The fruit are round to slightly oval, yellow with a subtle pink blush near the stem when fully ripe. The flesh is very soft, fiberless, and carries a bright, peachy flavor. Seeds are monoembryonic. The fruit is delicate and has a short shelf life, so tree-ripened fruit should be handled carefully.
The tree itself grows vigorously with a spreading, dense canopy. Production is steady though fruit retention can be limited. Flowers and young fruit may show some susceptibility to anthracnose, but the variety is highly resistant to bacterial black spot and common rot fungi. Juicy Peach performs particularly well in areas with lower humidity and less fungal pressure.
This is a mid-season mango, typically maturing in July.
