Kathy is a mango from Gary Zill’s breeding program in Boynton Beach, FL (planting #K-3). It is a seedling of the Zill Indochinese (Zinc), making it a sibling of Venus and Sweet Tart, and has also been referred to as “Kryptonite.”
The fruit are medium-to-large, oval in shape, turning yellow at maturity. The flesh is fiberless, with a rich Saigon-Indochinese hybrid flavor that is slightly milder and less tart than that of its sibling varieties.
Trees are medium-sized growers. Young trees can be susceptible to fungal issues, but with proper care they establish well. Kathy is a mid-season variety, maturing from July through August in Florida.
