Kensington Pride is considered the national mango of Australia and is also known as “Bowen,” after the town in Queensland where it was discovered. Its exact origins are unclear, but it is polyembryonic, suggesting some Southeast Asian ancestry, and it has been widely propagated from seed and by grafting across Australia.

The fruit are medium-sized, ovate, and typically weigh around a pound at maturity. They are mostly yellow with a light red blush on the upper portion. The flesh is yellow, contains a small amount of fiber, and has a mild Indochinese-type flavor.

The trees are moderately vigorous with spreading, open canopies. Production is often inconsistent, and the variety is moderately susceptible to bacterial spot and fruit rot. Kensington Pride is a mid-season mango in south Florida, maturing primarily from late June through July.
