Kurashige is a mango originating from Florida, reportedly selected for its unique combination of flavor and early ripening characteristics. It is considered a reliable backyard variety for growers seeking small-to-medium sized fruit with consistent quality.
The fruit are medium-sized, oval to slightly oblong, and typically turn yellow with a subtle red blush at maturity. The flesh is soft, fiberless, and aromatic, with a sweet flavor that leans toward the classic Indian/West Indian profile. The seed is monoembryonic.
Trees are moderately vigorous with an upright, spreading growth habit and dense canopy. Kurashige has shown good tolerance to common diseases such as anthracnose and bacterial black spot compared to some other Florida selections. The variety is generally an early-to-mid season mango, maturing from late May through June in south Florida.
