Mangifera lalijiwa is a close relative of the common mango (Mangifera indica) native to Indonesia. It is also known by the names Madoe or Madu.
The fruit are medium-sized, oval, and remain green at maturity. The flesh is fiberless with a mild, sweet flavor similar to many Southeast Asian mango types. The seed is polyembryonic.
Mangifera lalijiwa shows good resistance to anthracnose, but is susceptible to bacterial black spot and powdery mildew. Under Florida conditions, trees have demonstrated consistent fruiting after establishment, with first production typically occurring a few years after planting.
