Peach Cobbler Mango – Developed in the Gary Zill breeding program in Boynton Beach, FL (planting #O-2), this variety is a Kent seedling, likely with 'Gary' as its pollen parent.
The fruit is round, small-to-medium in size, and retains a mostly light green skin even when fully ripe, which can make determining maturity tricky. The flesh is soft, fiberless, and orange, offering a rich, complex flavor that leans more toward a citrusy Gary-type profile than its dessert-inspired name suggests. The fruit is highly flavorful, though it has a short shelf life and can overripen quickly if left on the tree.
The tree grows vigorously with a dense, spreading canopy. Flowering is slow to start, with low precocity and initial poor response to mild winters. Fruit set is moderate, and retention can be inconsistent early in the tree’s life, though production tends to improve as the tree matures. The variety is highly resistant to bacterial black spot.
