Originating from South Africa, Piva has long been valued as a rootstock capable of dwarfing certain cultivars, including several Florida-type mangos.
The fruit is small to medium, oval-shaped, and red-skinned, with yellow, fiberless flesh. The flavor is mild and classic, with subtle earthy notes, closely resembling Irwin. The seed is polyembryonic, allowing true-to-type propagation.
The Piva tree itself is naturally slow-growing and compact, with a spreading, horizontal habit and open canopy. It produces consistently each year and shows strong tolerance to diseases. Fruit matures mid-season, typically from late June through July.
