This mango is one of several Saigon seedling hybrids developed and maintained by the USDA in Miami, each identified by an “S” numerical designation. S-10 originated as a seedling of USDA accession MIA 4329, which itself traces back to a seedling of the original Saigon mango introduced to Florida around 1904. As such, S-10 represents a later-generation selection within the historic Saigon lineage.
The fruit are medium-sized, oblong in shape, and develop a yellow background color with light pink blush as they mature. The flesh falls into the mild classic flavor group, offering a pleasant, straightforward mango profile without strong resin or spice components.
