Yi Xuan is a Florida mango selected by Walter Zill of Boynton Beach, originating as a seedling of ‘Lemon Zest’. Though derived from a strongly citrus-flavored parent, Yi Xuan expresses a more restrained and classic flavor profile, setting it apart from many of Lemon Zest’s other descendants.
The fruit are oblong, medium-sized (roughly around one pound), and mature to a dull yellow exterior. The flesh is yellow, soft, and completely fiberless, offering a rich, classic-style mango flavor rather than the sharp citrus intensity often associated with its parentage. The seed is monoembryonic.
Trees show moderate vigor with a somewhat upright growth habit, making them manageable in size. Fruiting has been consistent, and overall productivity has been solid without being excessive. Yi Xuan has demonstrated good disease resistance, contributing to its reliability as a backyard or collection variety.
Yi Xuan is a mid-season mango in Florida, with fruit typically ripening in July.
