M-17 is a selection from Gary Zill’s breeding program in Boynton Beach, Florida, noted for its very good eating quality and classic Florida mango character.
The tree has a spreading growth habit and produces round to slightly roundish fruit with attractive coloration. The flesh is yellow, firm, and completely fiberless, containing a monoembryonic seed. In flavor, M-17 fits squarely within the classic group and is often compared to Beverly, sharing a similarly clean, sweet, and balanced profile that appeals to a wide range of palates.
M-17 ripens mid-to-late season and has shown good overall disease tolerance so far, with no major issues noted. Its combination of reliable tree structure, classic flavor, and solid fruit quality makes it a promising option for growers who appreciate traditional Florida-style mangos.
