N-12 is a seedling selection from Gary Zill’s breeding program in Boynton Beach, Florida. It represents a classic-style Florida mango with solid size and dependable eating quality.
The fruit are large, broadly Kent-like in shape, and mature with a traditional classic mango flavor profile. The flesh is firm, completely fiberless, and encloses a monoembryonic seed, making it suitable for slicing and fresh consumption. Flavor expression stays clean and familiar rather than exotic, appealing to those who prefer traditional mango character.
Trees show vigorous growth while still demonstrating a willing and consistent fruiting habit, a combination that is not always common among larger-fruited cultivars. Growth is robust, suggesting the need for space or occasional pruning to manage size.
N-12 ripens in the mid-to-late season, extending the classic-flavored mango window later into the summer compared to many standard Florida types.
