P-22 is a selection from Gary Zill’s breeding program in Boynton Beach, Florida, believed to be a cross between Zill Indochinese (Zinc) and possibly Gary. The original tree is known for good productivity, and the fruit has developed a strong reputation for flavor quality.
The fruit is round to ovate in shape with light-colored, fiberless flesh. Its flavor clearly falls within the Indochinese hybrid category and is very similar to Zinc, featuring clean sweetness with gentle floral notes rather than resin or acidity. Among newer Indochinese-type selections, P-22 stands out as one of the finest flavored examples to date.
P-22 has shown consistent performance with impressive eating quality. It represents a refined take on the Zinc flavor profile and is a strong candidate for growers seeking high-quality Indochinese-type mangos with broad appeal.
